Unit 1 Reflection.

Reflection on Unit 1:            

Information and communication 
Technology in Education


Unit 1 has helped me develop a deeper understanding of how ICT is shaping education in Bhutan and how I can use it in my future teaching. Through programs like Chiphen Rigphel, iSherig-1, iSherig-2 and the Education Technology Framework I learned about Bhutan's digital journey and came to understand that technology is about more than just gadgets but also a tool to create a sustainable and inclusive society. In the future, I would make sure that my use of technology in the classroom respects Bhutanese culture and values while promoting learning.

The ICT curriculum framework for classes PP–XII showed me how digital literacy should progress step by step. I understood that giving skills in small steps helps students feel confident and not confused.  In the future, I would use this by giving younger children access to basic digital tools like storytelling or sketching apps and then progressively advancing to more complex abilities like coding, internet research, or multimedia presentations for older students. In this manner students can acquire digital skills appropriate to their age and aptitude.


TPACK MODEL


The TPACK and SAMR models provided me with clear methods to use technology in teaching. I learned that technology should not just copy traditional worksheets but make learning better and more creative. Using SAMR at higher levels can help students work together, think critically, and solve problems. In the future I would design assignments that redefine learning like group projects on cloud platforms that allow students to work together in real time. I would also use TPACK to choose the right tools that match my teaching content and methods.

Planning lesson with technology also taught me the importance of preparation. Backward Design helps to start with learning outcomes, and Universal Design for Learning (UDL) makes sure all students can show their learning in different ways. This is important because every student is different. In future I would use Backward Design to first identify the learning outcomes and then select suitable digital tools. I would also apply Universal Design for Learning (UDL) so that students can demonstrate understanding in different way some might write, others might create a short video or design an infographic.

Overall, this unit has encouraged me to see ICT as a bridge to more engaging, inclusive, and future-oriented learning. I understand that technology, when used thoughtfully, can help students be creative, collaborate, and gain digital skills. In future, I would design lessons to help students become responsible, creative, and digitally skilled citizens, ready for the changing world.
